The OSCARS review with the PSBE…

What a night for Hollywood! All of us at State Controlled Media love the movies. Admittedly, we are waaaay behind in new movies. I have seen every best picture winner and 75-80% of all nominees. I wasn’t fazed that I had not heard of most of the movies this year. It was some time ago that the academy went from giving the accolades to the most entertaining movie and started giving them to the best “art” movie. During the year if we go to the movies it is typically something fun to watch, something that needs a 40 foot screen.
The movies have changed and the way we watch has also changed. But watching the award made me a happy Perpetual Supreme Benevolent Editor.   I didn’t know they could do this but the academy went way back to rectify one of the most egregious oversights in movie history. The Best Picture Award went to Silent Movie!

It was 1977 and the award for Best Picture went to Rocky. Silent movie was not even nominated. All of the nominees that year were dark and depressing movies. But Silent Movie was overlooked. Heck, even the Best Foreign Film was Call Black And White In Color. But Silent movie was way ahead of its time. Finally the Academy Awards decided to rectify the error and ignore the fluff of this year and make things right; furthermore….
SCM Editor: UH, PSBE…
PSBE: Yes?
SCM: Sorry to interrupt but Silent Movie didn’t win.
PSBE: It Didn’t??
SCM: No, a silent movie won; it is called The Artist.

PSBE: The Artist?
SCM: Yes.
Oh. Well then that just means we gave an Academy Award for a silent movie? I mean there is a reason we now have talkies…right? Hmmm…Maybe I need to rethink this.
SCM: What would your Best Picture be?

PSBE: You know what...  To Be Continued

UPDATE: We almost forgot our favorite part! Best Original Song was won by Man Or Muppet. Hell Yeah!!!
